iPhone 12 Series 5G/4G Speed Is Slower Than Samsung, OnePlus, Google, LG in US: Opensignal

iPhone 12 series is Apple’s first 5G smartphone series while Samsung is on its third generation of 5G smartphones, March 18, 2021

iPhone 12 series is slower than smartphones by Samsung, OnePlus, Google, and LG when it comes to 5G and 4G speeds in the US, a new report by Opensignal claims. Though Apple saw the biggest growth going from 4G to 5G speeds, Samsung offered the best 5G speeds overall, with majority of the phones in the top 25 list being from the South Korean tech giant. The report states that in areas with 5G connectivity, Apple users saw around 18 percent slower download speeds than Samsung.

Opensignal is a mobile analytics company that focuses on mobile network experience performance. In its latest report, the agency compared 5G and 4G speeds offered by Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Google, and LG, the five largest smartphone brands in the US. It found that the iPhone 12 Rs.79,399 series was not even in the top 25 list of smartphones that offer the best 5G download speeds. Microsoft Could Reap Over $150 Million in New US Cybersecurity Spending Despite Recent Hacks

A recent hack that affected thousands of servers exploited unknown flaws in the way those servers handled web versions of Microsoft Outlook email , March 16, 2021

Microsoft stands to receive nearly a quarter of Covid relief funds destined for US cybersecurity defenders, sources told Reuters, angering some lawmakers who don't want to increase funding for a company whose software was recently at the heart of two big hacks. Congress allocated the funds at issue in the COVID relief bill signed on Thursday after two enormous cyberattacks leveraged weaknesses in Microsoft products to reach into computer networks at federal and local agencies and tens of thousands of companies. One breach attributed to Russia in December grabbed emails from the Justice Department, Commerce Department, and Treasury Department.

The hacks pose a significant national security threat, frustrating lawmakers who say Microsoft's faulty software is making it more profitable. "If the only solution to a major breach in which hackers exploited a design flaw long ignored by Microsoft is to give Microsoft more money, the government needs to re-evaluate its dependence on Microsoft,” said Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, a leading Democrat on the intelligence committee. ... read more
